Within a square, ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); the names and titles of the four Rashidun Caliphs in the margin, ‘[Abūbakr al-ṣiddīq / ʿUmar] al-fārūq / ʿUthmān al-ʿAffān / ʿAlī al-murta[ḍā]’ (‘Abubakr the Truthful, ʿUmar the Distinguisher [between Right and Wrong], ʿUthman son of ʿAffan, ʿAli the one with whom Allah is pleased’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a square, ‘Islām Shāh ibn / Shīr Shāh Sulṭān / khallada Allāh mulkahū 959’ (‘Islām Shāh ibn Shēr Shāh Sulṭān khallada Allāh mulkahū’ in Arabic); in the margin, some other titles of the ruler together with a Nāgarī rendition of his name, mostly off flan; in the top margin, ‘1477’.
